“I’ll remember (Theme from With Honors)” is Madonna’s 39th overall single and 32th released in the United States. Released in early 1994 as the soundtrack single from the film “With Honors”, this single marks the start of a new era for Madonna, and a big change in how she presented herself, both in music and style. Continuing the same path of the last single “Rain”, Madonna kept exploring her softer side and a less scandalous image, and along with “Crazy for you” it could be called one of her most tender ballads. The result was extremely successful, as the mid nineties was huge for Adult Contemporary like ballads and Madonna took a hint, I’ll remember became her 5th single to hit the number 2 spot on the Hot 100, being blocked from number 1 by another one hit wonder, All 4 One’s “I swear”. She was luckier on the Adult Contemporary chart, as I’ll remember became her 4th number one single on that chart after Live to tell, La isla bonita and Cherish. Overall it’s Madonna’s 21st Top 5 single, 26th Top 10 single and 30th entry on the Hot 100.

But the success of this song didn’t stop here, it earned nominations for Best Original Song for the 1995 Golden Globe Awards and Best Song written for a Motion Picture at the 1995 Grammy awards. The Video, directed by Alek Keshishian, Madonna’s director for Truth or Dare and This used to be my playground, only earned one nomination at the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards for best Cinematography. It has never been performed live.
