About Madonna Chart Diary

There’s no need here for introducing my subject of study. Everybody knows who Madonna is and her presence and contributions to pop culture and music are undeniable. Being present on the music charts is probably not the best way to measure an artist’s popularity or importance, but no one can deny that Madonna has made an impressive impact on the music charts since she first debuted in 1982 to this very day, breking record after record.

This site started as a way of putting together all the information about Madonna on the Billboard charts and the rest of the world, week-by-week, for all chart freaks like me out there. My idea is to recolect all that info as accurate as possible, so you can look up any given week and see which singles or albums were charting at the time, which cities was she playing that same week, or which video was being released. This is a labour of love and a work in constant progress, so keep up with me and most importantly enjoy!

I want to give extra thanks to Maurice Gravelle and Albert who runs the great Madonna site The Madonna Billboard Archives, for helping me include a lot of information I have gathered here, without them I couldn’t have completed this site! Thanks guys!

This work requires lots and lots of numbers and dates, I’m human so I’m bound to make any mistakes. If you wish to correct any data shown here or you wish to add any missing information for the benefit of us all, contact me here:

You’re all welcome to comment, ask questions and make suggestions, I’m all for feedback!

Awesome! Where have you been getting your MTV Top 20 info? I’d like to find out more complete chart details from that era!

You do realize I’ve been on that very same thread, right?

The chart info on the climb of Express Yourself was new to me. If I’m correct, it was in its 4th week when it was at #8.

When I posted Express yourself was at #8 I didn’t specify on what week was on, because I don’t have that info, and I wasn’t aware that you participate actively on that thread, now I know, so if you can help me correct those stats that’ll be great! Thanks for detecting mistakes, I’m bound to make plenty more for sure 😉

Sorry it’s been awhile. By my estimates, Madonna topped the chart in her 7th week on 7/14, given that she according to a commercial break debuted on the chart at the beginning weekend of June. This is what I have so far:

    ? (debut week) – ? – 8 – 7 – ? – 2 – #1 – 4 – …

I love this website…It must be a lot of work ! congratulations. But why no information from 1999 to 2012 ?

Hi and thanks for your comment! The reason for all the missing information is because in the past year I haven’t been able to work on it due to other commitments, that’s why I’m getting back to you as late as 2014.

I really hope I can start working on it, but sadly it takes a lot ot time and effort, but be patient because I will do it. Thanks for your support and good wishes!
