“Secret” was the leading single for Madonna’s sixth studio album “Bedtime Stories”. It is her 40th single release overall and 33th in the United States. Even though it didn’t hit number one on Billboard, “Secret” was a big hit, and enjoyed a big longevity on the charts, especially on Adult Contemporary, where it spent 6 weeks at the runner up position. It stayed another eleven weeks on the Hot 100’s Top 10, her longest Top 10 run at the time, and her 27th Top 10 single. It has the distinction for being the first single promoted on the Internet by Madonna, as a 30 second clip could be heard before the release of the single. Unfortunately, as Bedtime Stories didn’t get a proper tour, this song has been performed only once, during Madonna’s Drowned World Tour. It was also lypsynched in Wetten Dass..?, a popular German TV show.
